Blessings in Action CIC has launched Street View Arts, live on Wave Community Radio, bringing people who have been homeless together with the wider community.

Street View Arts, a community arts project in Weston-super-Mare, has officially launched. The launch event was held this month at We Are Super in the Sovereign Centre and went out live on Wave Community Radio.

The project is run by Blessings in Action CIC and funded by Arts Council England. It brings together people with lived experience of homelessness and the wider community. Together they will make art about the many different ways people see Weston-super-Mare.

Deputy Mayor Cllr Caroline Reynolds attended to launch the project, according to the organisation.

“All the planning and preparation”

Marta Gonczy-Grobarcik, founding director of Blessings in Action CIC, said in a statement sent to us on the organisation’s behalf:

“It was a real pleasure to officially launch our Street View Arts project with the support of the local community and live on Wave Community Radio. It’s fantastic to see the project officially get underway after all the planning and preparation that has gone into it.

“We were also delighted to welcome Deputy Mayor, Cllr Caroline Reynolds, who joined us to officially launch Street View Arts and hear more about it and the work we do to support our local community.”

The choice of venue was deliberate. Wave Community Radio has just moved into new premises, and the CIC wanted to give the station a part in the day.

“We were pleased to hold our launch at We Are Super and, at the same time, support Wave Community Radio as they settle into their new premises,” she said. “As fellow community organisations, it was important to us to give them the opportunity to be part of the event and showcase the work they are doing in Weston-super-Mare too.”

What the project will make

Members of the public will work alongside professional artists. Between them they will create:

  • photography
  • zines
  • a community booklet
  • a public mural

The finished work will then be shown in an exhibition. When we reported on the project earlier this month, Blessings in Action said the exhibition would be at Weston Museum next summer, and that the workshops are free, open to adults in and around Weston, and need no artistic experience.

Earlier this month, the CIC was named a finalist in two categories of the Female Business Awards 2026. Winners are due to be announced on 15 October.
