Charlton Farm's festive 2k fun run is on Sunday 6 December. Early-bird entry is £9.60 for adults and £4.80 for children until 5 November, 350 places.

Santas on the Run North Somerset is on Sunday 6 December 2026 at Charlton Farm, the children’s hospice in Wraxall. Families walk, jog or run a 2k route through the hospice grounds in Santa hats, elf outfits or festive pyjamas, and early-bird entry of £9.60 for adults runs until 5 November.

The event raises money for Children’s Hospice South West, which runs Charlton Farm. Part of the course is on the grounds of its neighbour, The Downs Preparatory School, the charity says in its press release. It is not a timed race. There are 350 places, according to the event page, and the charity is not taking sign-ups on the day, and asks people without a place not to come to Charlton Farm on the day.

“Such a special event”

Hollie Thorogood, Events Fundraiser for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), said:

“Santas on the Run is such a special event. It brings people together to celebrate the season, have fun and support local families who rely on Charlton Farm’s care.”

The charity describes it as “all about fun, community spirit and making memories”, and asks everyone to “get creative with their costumes” for the Best Dressed competitions. Its release lists categories for dogs, adults and children; the event page adds a fourth, for the best festive buggy.

Times on the day

The Event Village is open from 12 noon to 2pm, with Christmas entertainment, music and refreshments. The event page sets out the afternoon:

  • 12 noon to 12.45pm: arrive, hand in sponsorship money, coin collection cards and gingerbread houses, and look round the Event Village. The charity suggests coming as near to 12 noon as you can.
  • 12.35pm: best festive costume competitions.
  • 12.45pm: festive warm-up.
  • 1pm: the run starts. The 2k circular route can be done “as fast or slow as you wish” between 1pm and 1.45pm, and everyone collects a medal and a festive treat at the finish.
  • 2pm: the Event Village closes.

The charity also lists a face painter, a snow machine, a food and refreshments stall and children’s activities in the village. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on leads, and owners are asked to clear up after them.

What it costs

Entry is discounted by 20% until midday on Thursday 5 November: £9.60 for adults aged 16 and over, £4.80 for children aged 3 to 15, and free for children aged two and under. After that the event page lists “last chance” prices of £12 for adults and £6 for children until midday on 2 December. (The poster the charity sent us says “save 30%”; its press release and the event page both give the 20% prices above.)

Everyone is asked to aim to raise £35 in sponsorship, or £93 as a family. On its event page the charity says £35 could help fund its 24-hour phone line “so that even at Christmas, every call is answered”, and £93 could help fund an hour of care for a family at Christmas. It says it is supporting more than 500 families this Christmas.

Entrants get 50% off entry to Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, next door to Charlton Farm, on the weekend of the event; the event page says the discount covers you and up to four others.

Costume ideas from the charity

The event page suggests green face paint for a Grinch, an “ugliest” Christmas jumper with a tinsel scarf, matching family Christmas pyjamas, a large box wrapped in Christmas paper with arm holes to come as a present or a cracker, or a brown outfit with face paint and antlers for a reindeer.

About Charlton Farm

Children’s Hospice South West says it is the only children’s hospice charity in the South West, running three hospices: Little Bridge House in Barnstaple, Charlton Farm, which opened in 2007, and Little Harbour in St Austell. It says the three cost around £14 million a year to run and that it relies almost entirely on voluntary donations. Its services, including hospice stays, specialist play, music therapy, sibling activities, emergency and end of life care and bereavement support, are free for families and available 24 hours a day.
